Last year, we joined with alpaca farms all over the country in hosting an open-house weekend for the public. Carloads of visitors kept us busy for 2 days as we answered questions and introduced our alpacas. Again this year, you will be able to observe the alpacas close-up, dig deep in a bag of luxurious shorn fleece, shop for alpaca socks, scarves, and teddy bears, and enjoy cookies and juice. There will be informational material available, as well as a spinning demonstration by Louise Nuttle of Dry Creek Alpacas, for those interested in the fiber aspect of the industry. Mark your calendars and come see us! Recent Show Results: The last year has gone well for our show string. Our older herdsires attended their last show, and now can relax at home and get down to the business of making babies full time. November 2006 saw us in Clemson, SC for the Palmetto Classic where our herdsire O'Day took home a blue ribbon in his halter class. March 2007 we took several yearlings to the Southern Select in Shelbyville, TN. Franklyn and Royal were in the same class of Light Brown Juvenile Males, and took 3rd and 5th respectively. Our darling Journey took 1st in a class of 5 Beige Juvenile Females. It was a big moment for our small farm! It was also my best birthday present (I turned 40 that day). My sister Joan and I attended the 16th Annual AOBA Summer National Conference in Louisville, KY in May, but chose not to bring any animals this year. Our older herdsires have proved themselves in the ring, and the length of the show-- 5 days-- is a long, stressful haul for the younger animals. The youngsters will get their chance in October in Richmond, VA at the VAOBA Alpaca Expo. We have a beautiful crop of crias and we have high hopes for their showring debut. Come and see them strut their stuff! Lara |

Time to plan a visit! The weekend of Sept. 27-28, we will be participating in the 2nd Annual National Alpaca Farm Days celebration.
